Both Deceased Students Identified in the Ivy League School Attack as Police Persist in Hunt for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who were killed in the weekend's tragic incident at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter persisted following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the sole person of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also posted sympathies online, stating: “It's indescribable. Remembering her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

An International Student

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a tribute.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Officials stated late Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a police operation at a lodging about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“A perpetrator remains free,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate renewed concern for our public”.
