Triple MVP Jokic suffers a 'heartbreaking' knee injury.
Three-time National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Jokic sustained a "heartbreaking" injury to his knee while the Denver Nuggets lost 147-123 at the Miami Heat.
The star player injured himself late in the first half in an inadvertent coming together with teammate Jones.
The other player landed on the footwear of the MVP, who immediately collapsed to the court holding his leg.
The veteran player, that leads the NBA season in rebounds and assists, recorded 21 points and eight dimes in the game before incurring the injury.
The player will undergo an MRI on Tuesday to evaluate the seriousness of the problem.
"Right away, Jokic knew he was hurt," said Nuggets coach Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Whoever who suffers an injury, that's difficult, particularly a player as special as him. We will know more tomorrow."
"The team will adjust together. Obviously, right now, I am more concerned just about him personally and the frustration of facing a situation like that."
